Joshelle's Research Experience
Yá'át'ééhWelcome |
Hello, my name is Joshelle Tsinnijinnie. I am a RISE fellow at Northern Arizona University. My first research experience began when I participated in the Bridges program for two consecutive summers. I had such a wonderful experience working in Dr. Wilder's laboratory that I decided to participate in the RISE program once I transferred to Northern Arizona University in the Fall 2018. This program provides underrepresented students the opportunity to conduct scientific research, to work with experts in the field, and to ultimately earn a PhD. I was introduced to this program by my CCC2NAU advisor, Robin Long. Last year, Robin was aware that I was interested in pursing a career in health care. She informed me that by participating in this program, I will learn new skills related to conducting health research and that it would benefit me in my future studies. Therefore, I was accepted into the RISE program and I learned what earning a PhD degree entails and the amount of commitment that the professors invested into their education and research. During the summer retreat at Merriam-Powell Center, I learned how to create an experimental design from what was observed outdoors. This was a challenging and eye-opening experience for me. Overall, I am excited to continue my work in Dr. Wilder's lab and this site will express my research experience throughout this program. |
